RJ Aguiar is a writer, producer, strategist, and activist best known for his work across social media. He initially made a name for himself across YouTube channels like his own “TheNotAdam”, “shep689”, and Univision’s “FLAMA”. But since then, he’s risen to additional prominence on multiple social platforms, including pages and shows like "What’s Tranding”, “Blossom”, and “Quick Question”. He’s has work featured on Buzzfeed, Upworthy, Huffington Post, Out magazine, The Advocate, New Rockstars, and REMEZCLA. He's received accolades such as YouTube's "NextUp Class of 2013", The Advocate's "40 Under 40" list, QUEERTY’s “Twitter Account You Should Be Following”, and 6 Clio Awards.
As a digital producer and strategist, he's partnered with brands and entities such as Amazon Prime Video, Snapchat, Tinder, Hulu, Canon, GLAAD, It Gets Better, and HealthCare.gov. As an advocate, he was a founding board member and head of social media for the #ResistMarch, currently sits on the board of the Los Angeles Bi+ Task Force, and has spoken on Bi+ issues, queer issues, intersectionality, digital ethics, and healthcare equality at universities, conferences, and venues nationwide such as VidCon, San Diego Comic Con, and The White House.
Originally from Tampa, RJ attended Florida State University studying both Mass Media Production and Creative Writing with the intention of working solely in television and film. During that time, though, he discovered social media as an outlet with even more creative freedom, autonomy, and potential. This extracurricular hobby quickly became a career, with RJ first rising to prominence less than a year after graduating college. And while he hasn’t looked back, that passion for television and film never quite left, seeing as he’s found time to make appearances in films and series such as Eastsiders, Kiss Me Kill Me, Such Good People, Sexology, Don’t Tell My Mother, and Let’s Make A Deal.
